Principal’s Message

At our Academic UIL Contest on Saturday at Danforth, our students competed with three other area middle schools in events such as Dictionary Skills, Art Smart, Impromptu Speaking, Number Sense, Music Memory, and many other academically-based contests.  It was a busy and fun day! I was so impressed at how well our students represented Danforth and our community. After months of practice and preparation, our Danforth students worked together to earn overall first place against our competing schools!

Results for our Danforth students are posted on our school Google Classroom, and on Monday, February 5 during Texan Time, we will hand out UIL awards to our Danforth students. Teams will meet one more time on Friday of this week during Texan Time to review individual results and wrap up a great season. If your child participated in Academic UIL this year, thank you for encouraging his or her efforts and commitment. The chance to participate will be offered to all of our students again next fall.

Teresa Gill, our Danforth Academic UIL Coordinator and 8th grade science teacher, deserves special recognition for  her hard work over the past five months to plan, organize, troubleshoot, and manage our area contest at Danforth. I am also grateful for all of our Danforth teachers and instructional support staff who served as team coaches and all who helped make Saturday a successful event. Thank you to our PTO members, who donated time and concessions for the event. Finally, our students’ families juggled weekend schedules around events throughout the day to make sure our UIL team members could participate.

I hope all of our students feel encouraged to try out and learn more about our Academic UIL events and teams each year. Looking ahead, Wimberley High School offers a robust Academic UIL Program, and it is a joy to help prepare and encourage our students toward future success in these events.

I hope your family has a wonderful week ahead!

Christi Moeller, Principal

School ID tags–Parents, please encourage and remind your DJH student to wear his/her student ID on a lanyard around the neck every day. This is such an important safety issue. The tags allow students access into buildings around campus throughout the day and help our staff ensure that DJH stays safe and secure. We are currently experiencing a high number of students requesting temporary ID stickers each morning. If your student loses his/her ID, a new one can be ordered for $5.00. Thank you for your support with  this!
