Principal’s Message
Participation Trophy
The “participation trophy” is pretty much universally ridiculed …….but get ready…..I’m about to give our 7th and 8th graders some of that “participation” recognition.
There are roughly 400 students combined in our 7th and 8th grade classes. 332 of those 400 students are participating this Fall in Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Band, Choir, Stem Club or Garden Club. And many of those 332 are involved in more than one of those activities. At home you encourage involvement and it shows in those numbers. Many others are probably busy outside of school with activities like horse shows or 4H or tennis lessons or dance or golf. We are grateful that so many of our 7th and 8th graders participate both in school and out of school. Our 6th graders are equally busy and involved but their participation is still largely outside of school at this point. Involvement in extracurricular activities does not of course guarantee success but it’s a good start toward learning all sorts of valuable life lessons. And by the way parents and guardians – you get a “participation trophy” too – it’s for keeping their schedule straight and having them at every one of the practices, games and performances………and also for being their biggest fan. Thank you.
Nick Vujicic
Nick is an extraordinary public speaker with an amazing story to share. He’s spoken to students and crowds all over the world and we are fortunate to have him here in Wimberley on Tuesday, Oct. 1st. He’ll be at the High School Gym speaking against Bullying. All of our Jr. High students as well as our entire staff will be at the gym from roughly 8:30 am to 10 am on Tuesday morning. We’ll resume our regular schedule at the Jr. High when the program has concluded.
