WHS Girls' and Boys' Soccer Players Receive Postseason Honors

Members of both the Wimberley HS girls' and boys' soccer teams were recognized by receiving season accolades.
Leading the way for the Lady Texas are juniors Emily Thames and Claire Valentine, who along with sophomore Isabella Franchione were named to the Texas Assocation of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) First-Team All-State Squad. Both Thames and Franchione repeated as first-teamers. TASCO also named junior Natalie Figueroa Second Team All-State and head coach Brinton Nute the Region IV Coach of the Year.
In the District awards, Thames was named the District 26-4A Most Valuable Player, Valentine was awarded the District's Co-Goalie of the Year award, and Nute was honored as the Coach of the Year.
In addition to the District 26-4A superlatives received by Thames, Valentine, and Nute, other Lady Texans were honored as well. Sophomore Franchione was named First-Team All-District, along with senior Lexi Howell and freshman Ella Sandoval. Named to the Second-Team were seniors Mystel Bernal and Elise Brown, junior Figueroa, and sophomore Sydney Hendon. Senior Yaretzy Ramos, junior Maggie Leonard, and freshman Haley Lopez were all Honorable Mention All-District.
Team members were also lauded for their academic achievements. Seniors were eligible to be named Academic All-State and Elise Brown, Loralei Clapper, Makenzie Haston, Lexi Howell, and Leah Tate received that honor. Named to the Academic All-District team were: Mystel Bernal, Elise Brown, Loralei Clapper, Lexie Ebner, Natalie Figueroa, Lauren Foster, Isabella Franchione, Izzy Frank, Makenzie Haston, Sydney Hendon, Lexie Howell, Selah Jones, Maggie Leonard, Yaretzy Ramos, Emily Thames, Claire Valentine, and Baylee Willis.
The Lady Texans finished the season with a 20-3-4 record and lost to Corpus Christi Calallen in the Region IV semifinals.
There were seven all-district honorees on the boys' side. Senior Collor Collier and sophomore Gage Weaver were named to the First-Team All-District squad. Second-teamers were senior Charles Tamplin and junior Gage Tumlinson. Honorable Mention honorees were senior Lucas Craig, junior Aviv Buchenbacher, and sophomore Nick Dunn.
Named to the Academic All-District team were: Connor Collier, Ricky Deya, Nick Dunn, Diego Elizondo, Bryce Phillips, Owen Watson, and Gage Weaver.
The Texans had an overall record of 11-9-2 and lost to Eastside Early College HS in the bi-district round of the playoffs. They are led by head coach Ramez Antoun and assistant Kelly Parker.
