Texan, Lady Texan Hoopsters Honored with District Accolades

Following seasons that both concluded in the 4A playoffs, members of the Texan and Lady Texan basketball teams were honored with spots on the 28-4A All-District teams.
Leading the way for the Texans was sophomore guard Hayes Pounds (left) who was named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Region IV Team, the District 28-4A Newcomer of the Year, and a First Team All-District selection. Pounds led the Texans in scoring (18.3 per game), assists (5.6 per game), and rebounds (5.5) and was second in steals (2.6 per game) and 3-point shooting (34%). Pounds was also named as a Scorebook Live 4A Player of the Year Nominee.
Named to the First-Team were Texan standouts junior Miles Schleder (right, top) and senior Robbie Richter (right, bottom). Schleder was second on the team in scoring (17.6) and assists (1.7) and led the team in steals (2.7). He also led the team in 3-point shooting (35%), hitting more than 100 on the season. Richter led the way down low, pulling down 5 rebounds per game and leading the Texans in blocks (0.6 per game).
Second Team honorees for the Texans were juniors Nate Brooks, Thomas Watson, and Luke Watts. Juniors Dane Hennessee and Liam McLemore along with sophomores Drew Brasher and Wynston Burttschell were named Honorable Mention.

The Texans finished the season with a 28-6 record and were second in 28-4A behind state-tournament-qualifying Boerne HS. The Texans advanced to the second round of the playoffs before being defeated by Stafford HS. The Texans were coached by Mike Whitten, Cade Pharis, and Greg Dydalewicz.
Honorees for the Lady Texans were led by freshman guard Lily Dela Rosa (below, left) who was named District Newcomer of the Year. Dela Rosa led the team in scoring (12.4 points per game), assists (2.6 per game), steals (3.1 per game), and three-point shooting percentage (29%). She was also third on the team in rebounding (5.5 per game).
Honored as 1st Team All-District members were senior Brooke Burcham (below, center) and sophomore Raygan Pack (below, right). Burcham was also a 1st-Team selection as a junior and was second on the team in scoring (8.8) and rebounding (5.9), and first in blocks (1.4). Pack was tied for third on the team in scoring (8.0) and second in assists (2.1) and steals (1.9). She was second on the team in three-point accuracy - hitting 24% of her threes.
Freshman Campbell Woodward (8.0 pts./4.7 reb.) was named to the All-District Second Team and seniors Madelynne Rivera (third on team in steals and assists per game) and Makenzie Haston (led team in shooting percentage, tied for third in steals) and freshman Laney Hennessee (led team with 7.5 rebounds per game) were all named Honorable Mention.
