WISD OPEN for Class on Monday, Feb. 22
February 19, 2021
After careful inspection of our facilities, it has been determined that Wimberley ISD will be able to safely hold classes for all grade levels on Monday, February 22.
All campuses have electricity and water service and our cafeterias will be able to offer normal breakfast and lunch service. I'm so thankful for the many WISD employees who tended to our campuses during this major weather event. Our staff took care of small leaks in our buildings and made sure the buildings are ready for school on Monday.
We are aware that boil orders will still be in effect at least at the beginning of the week for our campuses. Any water used in our cafeterias will be boiled to appropriate standards. We do ask that our parents provide water, sports drinks, etc. for their students to drink during the period of time the boil order is in effect. I know that so many of you already send water every day, so for you, nothing will change.
I want to give a tremendous thank you to our meal provider, Labatt Food Service, for providing the district with 60 cases of bottled water. In addition, WISD trustee Will Conley put me in contact with Barnabas Connection director Kate Sowell, who connected me with the corporate offices of Brookshire Brothers, and they will special-deliver 120 cases of bottled water to WISD on Monday. Thank you so much to Will, Kate, and Brookshire Brothers!
During this unusual school year, I know how important it is for our students to be on campus, in class, and I'm proud that we'll be able to get our students back in school next week. Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy some warmer weather!
