October 20, 2021
The Wimberley HS Texan Marching Band performed at the Region Marching Band Competition on Saturday, October 16 in Giddings and received three Division One ratings from the judges, advancing its show to the Area competition.
The band’s show this year is called the “Stars at Night”, and includes music from Holst’s The Planets (Mars and Jupiter) and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star inspired by Mozart. The show is a high-energy, fast-paced performance that features many big moments. Drill team members also peform an intricate choreography during the performance.
The Area round competition takes place on Saturday, October 30 in Pflugerville - tentatively scheduled for 10:15 a.m. If the band is selected as a top 10 band out of the field of 30+ competing, it will have a chance to perform again for 1 of 5 slots for the UIL 4A State Marching Contest at the Alamodome in early November.
The band is led by Director John Winebrenner, who is assisted by Richard Hensley, Rance Mosley, and Shannon Atkins.
