WHS Tennis Qualifies Three Doubles Teams, Two Singles Players to Regionals

In total, eight Wimberley HS tennis players advanced to the regional tournament following first or second place finishes at the District 28-4A Tournament. Three doubles teams and two singles players qualified for the Texans. The tournament was held April 12-13 in Fredericksburg.
Advancing for the Texans were the boys' doubles duo of Tate Murphy (jr.) and Drew Gonzales (jr.), who won their championship match against teammates Peyton Anderson (jr.) and Cooper Doss (jr.), who finished second. In mixed doubles John Moore (soph.) and Madi Elliott (sr.) finished in second place. Also finishing as district runners-up were freshman Ella Malone in girls' singles and junior Nic Wright in boys' singles.
The eight Texans will compete at the regional tournament at the HEB Center in Corpus Christi on April 28-29. The top two finishers at that tournament will advance to the state tournament. The tennis squad is coached by Lauren Huse and assisted by Michael Coffman and Cade Pharis.
