WHS Boys Track Team Wins District Title; Girls Finish 2nd
April 9, 2021
The Wimberley High School track and field teams competed at the District 28-4A Championships on April 7-8 in Fredericksburg. After the two-day competition, the boys team brought home the district title and the girls' squad finished second. WHS's Junior Varsity teams also competed, both finishing in third place. (See full results, including JV here.) The top-four finishers in each varsity event qualify to compete at the Area track championships, to be hosted at Wimberley's Texan Stadium on Thursday, April 15. Leading the way for the girls' squad was sophomore Emily Thames, who qualified for the area meet in all five of her events. Junior Grace Harney and senior Rhyan Masur qualified in three events each. For the boys, senior Christian Marshall, junior Juan Olmedo-Barraco, and junior Landon Gary each qualified in three events. The track teams are led by head coaches Lacey Lambert (girls) and Josh DeMarco (boys).
