WISD's Winter Break COVID-19 Protocols
December 18, 2020
Wimberley ISD campuses will be closed for winter break from Dec. 19 through Jan. 6. (Jan. 6 is a teacher workday; students return on Jan. 7.) During this two and a half week period, Wimberley ISD will not be collecting, tracing, or reporting student COVID cases. Our school nurses and staff need the break physically and mentally to rest and spend time with their families.
What to do if your student tests positive for COVID-19 over the break:
All students who test positive for COVID-19 over the break should notify your healthcare provider. Positive results are automatically shared with the Hays County Health Department, which will be handling all contact tracing directly with families during the winter break. If the onset of symptoms is on Dec. 28th or later (10 days prior to school starting), please do not send your child to school and notify your child's campus on January 6th so WISD is aware of the reason for absence.
What to do if your student is in close contact with an individual who has tested positive:
If the close contact occurs two weeks (14 days) prior to the start of school (Dec. 24th or later) please do not send your child to school and notify your child's campus on January 6th so WISD is aware of the reason for absence.
What to do if your student is participating in extracurricular activities over the break and experiences symptoms:
For students who participate in extracurricular activities, please notify a coach or director and stay at home if experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or if receiving a positive COVID test result.
WISD wishes all of our families a safe, happy, and restful holiday season!
