WHS Track and Field Qualifies 28 Event Entries for Regional Meet
April 16, 2021
Wimberley's Texan Stadium was the host site for the District 27/District 28 Area 4A track and field meet on April 15. WHS's boys team won the area team competition, and the girls team was second behind district rival Fredericksburg. The area meet (see full results here) brings together the top four finishers from District 27-4A and District 28-4A, with the top four in each area event qualifying for the regional track meet to be held at Texas A&M-Kingsville's Javelina Stadium on April 23-24.
WHS competitors qualified 28 event entries for the regional meet, led by sophomore Emily Thames who qualified in all five of her events. Junior Grace Harney and senior Rhyan Masur qualified in three events each. For the boys, senior Christian Marshall (who lowered his own school record in the 300 meter hurdles), senior Cameron Waida, junior Juan Olmedo-Barraco, and junior Landon Gary each qualified in three events. Junior Haley Hall and freshman Madison Anderson each qualified in two events. The track teams are led by head coaches Lacey Lambert (girls) and Josh DeMarco (boys).
