Wimberley High School Girls' Cross Country Team Places 10th at State Meet

The Wimberley High School girls' cross country team finished in 10th place in 4A at the UIL State Cross Country meet on November 24 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The 2020 team marked just the second Wimberley team to qualify for the state meet. Seven Wimberley runners competed at the meet, with the top-five finishers counting toward the team score.
Leading the team over the two-mile course was senior Jasmine Cante, who finished in 54th place overall in a time of 13:09.97. Sophomore Julia Rennels finished in 65th place and freshman Madison Anderson was 77th. All seven WHS runners' times are below:

Canyon HS won the overall team 4A crown, and the individual race was won by Adele Clarke of Celina HS in 11:31.04. Wimberley qualified for the state meet by finishing third at the Region IV meet in Corpus Christi. The team was coached by head coach Lacey Lambert and assistant Brinton Nute.
