Hi! My name is Melissa Perry and I teach 5th grade at Jacob's Well Elementary. I am so excited to be your students teacher this year. Please use this website to get the latest information about our class and to view our newsletter.
A little bit about me:
I am from Allen, TX and have lived there my entire life. I attended Texas State University and graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2014. I then joined the Teacher Fellows Program at Texas State University and earned my Masters of Education in 2016. This is my 9th year as an educator and 6th year at WISD. I spent two years in 3rd grade and 1 year in 4th grade in Hays CISD.
My favorite subject is math. I also enjoy cooking, reading, dancing, and being outside. My favorite food is Chick-fil-A and I LOVE sweet tea. My favorite flower is the antique rose. In my spare time I go hiking, camping, and fishing. I love the Hill Country and I would never want to be anywhere else!
A few summers summers ago I got the opportunity to spend a month in Cintsa, South Africa. I taught a 3rd grade class of 40 students who didn't speak any English. I learned TONS of English language learning strategies and I also learned to teach without many materials. While I was there I got to feed and hug my favorite animal, an elephant! Needless to say that made the trip for me. I can't wait to see where this summer takes me:)
