Referrals may be initiated by campus personnel, parents or other professionals. Campus, parent, or outside referrals should be initiated by contacting the student's school Counselor, Campus Administrator, or the WISD Director of Special Services. To contact the Wimberley ISD Director of Special Services, please call (512) 847-7567.
Students may be referred for special education services through the referral system of the campus. Prior to referral, a student experiencing difficulty in the general classroom may be considered for all support services available to all students on the campus, such as tutorials, remedial, compensatory and other services.
Do you have concerns about your young child?
- Check out the Parent Companion. This online guide, available in English and Spanish, was created by Education Service Center Region 13 for Texas parents and caregivers of children with diagnosed or suspected disabilities from birth through 5 years of age.
You can also explore Act Early Texas. This website provides a free screening tool to determine if your child's development differs from that of her same-age peers.
- Check out the ages 2-5 developmental checklists, in English and Spanish, linked below from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the guides from the Texas Education Agency on skills that children should be learning in school from PK3 - 2nd grade. These guides and checklists may provide a starting point for conversations with your child's school or doctor.
